Is a picture really worth a thousand words? If so, the Timber Harvesting and Transportation Safety Foundation is on the right track. In the last decade, the THATS Foundation has provided financial support in the development of over 15 videos pertaining to safety in the woods—working with, and hauling, fiber.

Just to mention a couple, there are the videos entitled Safe and Efficient Practices for Trucking Forest Products and Public Highway Safety Around Large Trucks. Both are excellent examples of video productions that have provided specific information about improving safety in the transportation of wood products. The Foundation has also recently sponsored the production of several videos relating to safety in the woods and even forestry equipment fire prevention. If you want to view a listing of all videos and logging safety resources available, go to www.LoggingSafety.com, and click on Logging Safety Resources at the bar on the left. At that link, you will find access to the Logging Resource Safety Guide, listing all available safety resources. The source of the safety resource is highlighted and you can easily click on an address, phone number, or web site through which to place an order.

THATS, with the cooperation of Stihl, Inc. and their marketing resources, is producing a compilation of the videos mentioned above, along with a few others, which we will introduce and exhibit at this spring’s FRA Annual Meeting in Jacksonville, Florida (April 19-22, 2012). This special screening will showcase the quality and substance of the type of projects the THATS Foundation has supported for the last twenty years and—with your help—for the next twenty.

See you there!
